Principal's Message

Hello Altamont Families,

Today officially marks the end of our second trimester which means Altamont 5.0 is two thirds of the way completed! It’s hard to believe that we only have three months left in our school year. Spring is right around the corner and we are beginning to push hard to ensure our students will be well prepared for the annual CAASPP Test as well as other end of the year assessments.

Report Cards – With the trimester ending today, look for report cards to go home with your children on Friday, March 8th. Should you have any questions about your child’s report card, please contact your child’s teacher.

PTA – We will be looking to fill several PTA Board positions for the 2019-20 school year. If you are interested in helping Altamont continue to provide wonderful events for your children and our families, please consider joining our board!

On another PTA note, we will be having a Family Movie Night on Friday, March 1st. We will be showing “Ralph Breaks the Internet” in support of our 3rd grade class. Please come and join us for the best Family Movie Night in Mountain House! Please see our PTA newsletter in our Panther News for additional information.

Family Science Night – We had an outstanding Family Science Night last week! The turnout was excellent and everyone had fun interacting with our hands-on activities and student science projects. I’d like to thank everyone who attended and our wonderful teachers and families for doing an excellent job supporting their students with their awesome science projects! I’d also like to
thank Sandia Lab and our high school volunteers who helped with our activities, and I’d especially like to thank our wonderful teacher, Tammy Hurst, who did a great job organizing and running this event!

Read Across America – We will be celebrating our annual “Read Across America” week beginning on March 4th. Please see the flyer in our Panther News newsletter for more information on our dress-up day schedule. We will culminate this week with Altamont’s first ever “Pipsqueak Party” on March 8th for our primary grade students! More information will be forthcoming.

Panther Basketball – Our basketball teams completed in their 1st round of league play this week. I am very proud of the way all of our teams have played and the sportsmanship they’ve demonstrated!  Our team records are as follows at the halfway point of the season:
5th/6th Grade Girls – 5-0
7th/8th Grade Girls - 4-1
7th/8th Grade Boys – 2-3
5th/6th Grade Boys – 2-3

OK Panthers, we’ll see everyone next trimester!
